About The Artist

Ulysses is a life long resident of Columbus, OH. His parents were both artists and had a long running fine crafts and arts gallery in the Short North Arts District. Living in the Short North was stimulating and he took advantage, selling his small sculptures at his parents' gallery and then his early jewelry at a neighborhood Ohio-made shop, starting at a very young age. They attended Fort Hayes High School, an arts oriented school. He had to lottery in and made it with a day to spare. It was a great fit and he thrived, making use of the different opportunities - including entering the vocational program as a welder with an eye towards large scale sculptures. He worked as a decorative welder for a year before easily getting into CCAD (Columbus College of Art and Design) where, with a scholarship, a loan and incredibly generous help from a patron, he managed to graduate early - right in the middle of a pandemic. This led to using social media to stage his thesis show, earning him a lot of exposure for his unique kinetic masks (and general quirkiness). Since graduating his emphasis is more on the small jewelry lines, the kinetic rings, the skulls, the talons, while also making custom work.

His newly relocated studio space is freeing up time by being closer to home!
